AIP announce four candidates for LS polls

Er Rasheed to contest from Bla constituency

Srinagar: AwamiItehaad Party (AIP) on Friday announced its four candidates for the upcoming LokSabha polls, commencing from April 11. The party president and former Langate legislator, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh is one among the four candidates, testing water in the polls, who will be contesting from Baramulla constituency.
Several leaders also joined the party in Srinagar including former Deputy Secretary Legislative Council Nazir Ahmed Moon, NC Prominent figure from Baramulla Mohammad RafiqBhat and Social and Political activist from Rafiabad Mohammad Ameen War.
Dr Bari Naik assistant professor and renowned Social activist from Homshalibugh, ZubairMasoodi a political and social activist from Pampore, Dr. Zahoor a scholar and social activist from Sonwar, Advocate Bilal Sultan a social activist from Batmaloo and Syed Waseem a social activist from Srinagar also joined AIP formally at a press conference in Srinagar.
On the occasion, ErRasheed said that though every party approached AIP for seeking the support in the parliamentary elections, but no understanding could be reached with any one of them for the reason that they were not ready to support AIP’s stand on various crucial issues.
“As such AIP which has been representing the sentiments and aspirations of people could not support any of the parties responsible for most of the miseries of people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
“Keeping all circumstances in mind party has decided to field Anees Rather from Jammu Udhampur parliamentary Constituency, ShahzadShabnumDeewan from Punch Rajori, ZubairMasoodi from South Kashmir and ErRasheed from North Kashmir parliamentary constituency and the party may take a decision about other Parliamentary segments soon,” he said.
Appealing people to support AIP, ErRasheed said, “People living in every nook and corner of State are aware of the fact that during last ten years AIP has never taken sides and has stood like a rock against all odds to represent and protect the sentiments and rights of people of State cutting across religious, regional and ethnic affiliations.”
He said while NC, PDP and PC are representing New Delhi in Kashmir, AIP has always represented Kashmir in every forum, everywhere without being apologetic or without compromising the truth.
“While other parties have huge resources, backing of State machinery, AIP’s only strength is its commitment towards people and its performance of last ten years which the party cadres have displayed not only in streets but at the floor of the Assembly,” AIP president added.
He added it is not the question of AIP’s winning elections but a real test to the wisdom, sincerity, political maturity and psyche of masses who have always valued high the efforts of AIP to fight for rights of deprived people.
