Sopore Gunfight resumes after nightlong lull

Sopore: After a lull for many hours the gun fight raging between militants and government forces in Warpora village of Sopore North Kashmir Baramulla district continued on Friday.

Official sources said that one unidentified militant was reported killed in the ongoing encounter on so far. However, senior police officers say that no body has been recovered.

Earlier contingents of Army 22 RR, SOG Sopore,177 and 179CRPF and Police cordon off Warpora village in wee hours.As the forces intensified the searches, hiding militants in the area opened fire, leading to a gun fight which was going on when last reports came in.

The army has already rushed more reinforcement in the area, they said.A police officer confirmed the fresh gunfire and said that the cordon was launched following specific inputs in the village.Sources said two Jash -e- Mohammad militants believed to be trapped in the area.

Meanwhile, Mobile internet service has been suspended in Sopore.
