Become job creators instead of job seekers: Advisor Ganai to students

JAMMU: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai Saturday urged youth to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and called upon them to find alternatives to public sector jobs by setting up their own business ventures.
The Advisor said this during the valedictory function of two-day 6th National Conference and Exhibition on ‘Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology’ jointly organized by Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur here.
Among others, Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, Director College Development Council, University of Jammu, Prof R K Ganjoo, Principal GCET, Dr Sameru Sharma, Prof S.S Pathak from IIT Kharagpur and Director College, Higher Education Department Dr Yaseen Ahmad were present on the occasion.
The Conference was aimed to provide a common platform to exchange innovative ideas and knowledge between the academicians, students, researchers and industry to serve the society in a better way.
Addressing the gathering, the Advisor emphasized upon the defining role of engineers in the present era of global technological development, reiterating the need for engineering students to harness their skilled proficiency in terms of entrepreneurship building mechanisms.
Lauding the role of various CPSUs/PSUs in the development of the country, the Advisor stressed upon developing an interface between the engineering institutions, researchers and industry professionals to boost the capabilities of the aspiring engineers to the maximum utility and their exploration and experience to become enterprising as job providers.
He further asserted upon the continuous improvement in engineering education by adopting the new methodology, different resources and the new material in creating new technologies/innovations. He thanked the organizers for providing a common platform with comprehensive participation of industrial, educational and Engineering Sectors to tap the resources for the uplift and benefit of the deprived mankind of the country.
On the occasion, Prof. R.K. Ganjoo informed the audience about the upcoming skill development incubation centre to be constituted for the flagship colleges of the State affiliated to Jammu University.
The eminent speakers Prof S.S. Pathak, IIT Kharagpur, Zahoor Ahmed Chat, Rodic Consultants, Anil Kumar Sharma, Tata Power, K.R. Suri, Ex-GM PGCIL, P.K. Nanda, GVR Infra Projects delivered the invited talks and lectures to the participants delving on diverse aspects of the emerging technological advancements throughout the globe and their social relevance with special emphasis on the ongoing schemes and projects in the State.
The interactive sessions of the students with the representatives of various Industries/Companies such as NHPC, PGCIL, CVPP, IRCON for the knowledge of delegates and engineering students were also held.
Besides this, Maharatnas and Navratnas companies of India, J&K BANK, BSNL, JKSPDC, NIELIT, TATA POWER, HDFC, RODIC consultants also participated and displayed their exhibits providing the students with the latest exposure of scientific innovations and the technological advancements.
The main attraction in the event was a workshop related to startup programmes to create awareness amongst the participants for entrepreneurship and management skills in collaboration with TBIC SMVDU and NEONEX Technologies, Chandigarh.
Later, Advisor Ganai distributed the certificates and trophies for Best Paper Presentations and Best Models/Exhibit displays in the presence of the other dignitaries and distinguished guests.
Earlier, Principal, GCET Dr.Sameru Sharma welcomed the dignitaries and participants.
The two-day programme of the conference comprised of invited talks, plenary talks from eminent personalities from research and industry. Further, it consisted of technical sessions for the contributed paper presentations from the participants.
A total of 70 papers were received for publication from all over the country of which 43 were accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings after peer reviewing and as well published by the online International Journal of Science and Technical Advancements (IJSTA) globally accessible by all with effect from March 16, 2019 onwards.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Yaseen Ahmad, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department.
