Ulema withdraw shutdown call for March 16 against NIA summoning Mirwaiz
Srinagar: Muttahida Majilis e Amal has withdrawn the shutdown call for March 16 against National Investigation Agency issuing summon to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Mirwaiz is the chief cleric, chairman of Hurriyat Conference M and part of Joint Resistance Leadership.
The Grand Mufti J&K Mufti Nasir ul Islam issued a statement withdrawing the shutdown call and said that there will be no strike now.
Mirwaiz has earlier urged the Ulemas to withdraw the call they have given.
“The shutdown call is being withdrawn on the request of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” Mufti Nasir ul Islam said in a statement.
NIA had summoned Mirwaiz to investigate alleged ‘terror funding case’.
