Clashes erupt during CASO in Kulgam village, forces carry out searches in many areas

Srinagar: Intense clashes erupted in south Kashmir’s Budroo village in Kulgam district on Tuesday morning after government forces laid a cordon of the area.
Reports said that youth during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Budroo area of Yaripora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district pelted stones on the forces which was retaliated by them using tear smoke shells.
Reports said that hundreds of youth hit the streets when ‘CASO’ was launched by government forces in the area.
They said that youths threw stones on troops amid intense pro-freedom sloganeering, the forces respond them with teargas shelling.
After receiving specific inputs of the presence of the militants in the area, joint forces cordoned off the area and started the searches, sources said.
Meanwhile, a door-to-door search operation has been launched in the area after all the entry and exit points were sealed to the area.(KNO)
Clashes were also reported during cordon and search operation in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Local sources said that soon after forces laid search operation in the area youth took to streets and started pelting stones on government forces which was retaliated by smoke tear and sound shells by the forces.
Earlier on credible inputs about the presence of militants hiding in the area, a joint team of forces launched search operation in the Naman and Laribal villages of the belt.
Forces also started search operation in Bandzoo village which is about 2 kms from Pulwama town, Bellow village in Rajpora Tehsil of the district and Panjran village in Litter Tehsil of the southern district.
Local sources said that huge contingents of forces was deployed in the area while as door to door search operation continued till late evening.
Earlier same kind of operations were launched in Naman and Laribal villages of Kakapora and Hari Parigam village of Tral belt however, both ended peacefully.
Meanwhile, locals from Laribal informed that one youth was injured during clashes that erupted during CASO in the area.
Forces also initiated a search operation in Kursu Rajbagh area of Srinagar city.
