Guv directs for formulating team of officials

Jammu: Governor Satya Pal Malik has given directions for constituting a Team of officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Government which would hold consultations with the managements of the educational institutions of Dehradun, Uttrakhand, besides premier educational institutions in other states where large number of students from Kashmir are studying, an official spokesman said here.
The team will look into various issues like safety of the students, timely completion of Courses, matters relating to attendance and missed lectures by the students.
After reviewing the whole scenario the team will submit a report to Governor about the overall situation including steps being taken to ensure safe return of the students and catching up with scheduled academic calendar of the respective educational institutions.
Pertinently, some of the students from Kashmir fearing their safety after the Pulwama attack in February 2019 had returned back to their homes.
Fearing attacks and intimidations, the Kashmiri students studying in outside colleges and universities have asked the J&K government to ensure their safety while returning to their respective institutions.
The students have asked the administration to constitute a nodal agency which will coordinate with the local administrations in outside states and police in order to ensure their safety in their colleges and universities
Earlier more than 3000 students had returned valley after facing intimidations and threats from the local mob in outside states like Dehradun, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Also, around a dozen videos of beating of Kashmiri students also came to fore. The students were threatened and harassed in wake of an attack on CRPF Convoy in Pulwama in the month of February.
