Highway closed following massive landslide in Banihal
Banihal: The strategic highway connecting Kashmir with the rest of the world has been shut for vehicular movement following massive landslide in Banihal area of the Ramban district.
Traffic police officials said that landslide occurred at Kharpora area of the Banihal and blocked the road.
“The traffic has been halted. Men and machinery has been deployed to clear the road of the blockade,” he said.
“One-way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu will be allowed only after the landslide is cleared,” he said.
The mountainous stretch is the only road connectivity of the valley with the rest of the world and is prone to landslides and shooting stones incidents.
