Pulwama: Two Hizbul-ul-Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
“Police, Army and CRPF launched Cordon and Search Operation in Reshie Mohalla of Tral area following credible inputs about the presence of militants on Monday evening,” a police official said.
“After conducting searches for about 9 hours, contact was established with militants as the search was underway and forces came under fire from militants, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter,” he said.
He said two militants were killed in the gunfight, adding that they were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
The slain militants were identified as Adfar Fayaz Parray alias Abu Zarar son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray resident of Gulshanpora village and Irfan Ahmad Rather resident of Shariefabad village, the official said.
After performing legal medical formalities, the dead bodies were handed over to their heirs.
In the ensuing encounter, a civilian identified as Farooq Ahmad, 45, was injured and was rushed to SMHS Srinagar hospital for treatment where he is said to be stable.
According to a resident of Reshipora village, in the ensuing encounter one residential house caught fire and was razed to ground.
Adfar Fayaz Parray, 23 had joined Hizb last year on 6th July, two days before the 2nd death anniversary of Hizb Commander Burhan Wani and was considered as C-category militant.
He as per his friends joined ranks soon after completing his BA degree from Government Degree College Tral.
Belonging to a middle class family, Adfar was never arrested before joining militant ranks, they said, adding he is survived by two brothers and a sister besides his parents.
Slain Irfan had joined Hizb in November 2017, days before he was scheduled to appear in his12th standard exams, he is survived by two brothers, besides his parents” said his cousin, adding that he was never arrested or questioned by government forces before joining militancy.
Pertinently, Irfan was neighbour of slain Hizb commander Burhan Muzzafar Wani.
Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the multiple funeral prayers of both the slain militants.
The slain militants were not laid to rest till the report was last filed.
Furthermore, a complete shutdown was observed in Tral while as the mobile internet services were suspended by authorities in police district Awantipora.
