PM-SYM scheme launched in Kulgam

Kulgam: ‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan’ (PM-SYM), a pension scheme for unorganized workers in District Kulgam was on Tuesday launched at Dak Banglow Chowalgam Kulgam.
The scheme was launched by department of Labour Kulgam in co-ordination with District Administration Kulgam.
The programme was organized under the overall supervision and directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam Dr. Shamim Ahmed Wani.
PM-SYM scheme is voluntary in nature and involves a periodic contribution too which ranges from Rs.50 to Rs.200 only.
It covers almost all those workers who work in the unorganised sector viz street vendors, cobblers, rikshaw pullers, landless labourers, leather workers etc and are in the age group of 18-40 years and all those who are not registered with EPFO/ESIC/NPS and are not paying any income tax.
The workers will get a monthly pension of RS 3000 under the said scheme at the time of maturity i.e 60 years.
The launching of PM-SYM was inaugurated by DDC Kulgam followed by a live telecast of launching ceremony by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Gujrat.
The event was also presided over by Hilal Ahmed–Assistant Commissioner Development Kulgam, Dr Nida Yousuf –Assistant Labour Commissioner Kulgam, G R Malik–Assistant Director Employment Kulgam, various other district officers.
Later on the occasion, PM-SYM pension cards prepared by the CSC centres were also distributed amongst the unorganized workers by the Worthy DDC and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
The mega event was attended by a large gathering of unorganized workers from different categories and workers and other allied unions.
