Srinagar: As mark of a protest against the ban on religious and social outfit, Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) and approval of Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Ordinance, Kashmir traders and transporters here on Monday called for Kashmir bandh on Tuesday, demanding authorities to revoke the ban on JeI at an earliest.
Addressing a presser, Kashmir Traders Manufacturing Federation (KTMF), Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and Transporter Association said that the authorities have choked all the space for them to express resentment against any anti-people move, therefore it has been decided to observe shutdown on Tuesday to protest against the recent moves of Government of India.
Muhammad Yasin Khan, KTMF head told reporters that situation in Jammu and Kashmir has been pushed to a dangerous end where traders are finding it difficult to continue their businesses. “We are on the verge to stop business activities here due to the situation created by the government,” he said.
Terming the ban on Jamaat as ‘unfortunate’, Khan said JeI is a social, religious organizations and ban imposed by the government must be revoked at an earliest.
Reacting on closure of schools and other Falaah-e-Aam trusts, Khan said the schools where religious teaching is being provided to students is being controlled, thus preventing the wards to get Islamic teachings in Kashmir. He said the organization especially ‘Falaah-e-Aam’ played a pivotal during 2005 earthquake and 2014 floods here.
Taking a jibe at private news channels and some sections of print media, the Valley traders and transporters said these national channels have wrecked havoc across India and are responsible for the current chaos and mess in the country especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is because of these channels that Kashmiri students, traders and others were being targeted outside the Valley post Lethpora Pulwama attack,” they said, adding they (national media channels) have waged a full-fledged war against Kashmiris.
Meanwhile, various trade bodies have come in support of the bandh call on Tuesday.
