Poor network connectivity irks Pulwama, Shopian villagers

Pulwama/Shopian: Inhabitants of almost a dozen villages of Southern Kashmir here have complained of poor network connectivity and low internet speed in their areas, alleging it to be a reason of immense hardships.
Residents of Niloora, Hajidarpora, Allaiepora Nowpowa, Awdoora, Gadbug, Bhatnoor and Armula in Pulwama district and Safanagri, Babpora, Durpora, Reshiepora, Bandpawa and Thokerpora in Shopian district said people across the Valley using 4G services while as the residents here are being deprived even 2G services due to poor network services.
“We have been suffering from last five to six years due to frequent call drops and poor network connectivity,” they said, adding that despite repeated attempts, authorities have failed to resolve the issues.
“Although, there are mobile towers in these areas but either they are defunct or are yet to be started,” Muzamil Ahmad, a resident of Niloora said.
He said Jio cellular company has installed some towers in the area before six months but were not made functional so far.
Meanwhile, locals urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter and redress their grievances.
Network Engineers of various telecom companies admitted poor network connectivity in some areas, saying villagers must approach the district administration or network wing of telecom companies to get this issue resolved.
