Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) leaders and activists on Friday held a protest against the banning of Jamat-e-Islami and recent NIA raids on pro-freedom leaders, their relatives and others.
Following the call given by the Joint Resistance leadership (JRL), the leaders and activists of Hurriyat (G) staged a protest after the culmination of Friday prayers here.
The protesting leaders said that ‘repressive’ measures against the people of state of Jammu and Kashmir in general and pro-freedom religo-political organizations can never suppress the just struggle of Kashmiris.
“Banning a registered organization like Jamaat-e-Islami is nothing but act of revenge by biased rulers of India as they have never tolerated any minority or their organizations,” they said.
Condemning the recent raids by NIA, leaders said that “harassing common people, pro-freedom leadership and their relatives, is a tool often used by Delhi rulers to create a chaotic and suffocating atmosphere to crush the freedom voice, but they have failed in doing so in past and will definitely fail in future as well.”
