Two houses, cowsheds damaged

Sopore: Two militants were on Friday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports said that two unidentified militant were killed in the encounter that broke out on Thursday late evening after Army’s 22 RR, SOG of J&K police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Astan Mohalla of Warpora area of Sopore.
Officials told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that the search was going on and the identification of both the slain militants was being ascertained.
Meanwhile, several youth were injured during the clashes that erupted between youth and forces near the gunfight site.
Scores of youth were injured during the clashes, reports said, adding that several of the injured have got pellet injuries.
Earlier, a joint team of Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF cordoned Warpora locality of Sopore last night and started a search operation.
Reports said that two residential houses were partially damaged while as two cowsheds were completely damaged during the encounter.
Official sources said that hiding militants opened fire upon the troops, however, the militants managed to escape the initial site of the gunfight.
The troopers as per sources continued the search operations during which militants again opened fire, triggering an encounter.
In the ensuing gunfight, two militants have been killed, sources said, adding that two AK- 47 rifles were also recovered at the encounter site.
Meanwhile, Sopore main town observed a complete shutdown with all shops and other business establishments remaining shut while traffic was plying on roads normally.
Earlier administration in Sopore fearing law and order issues imposed restrictions under sec 144 CRPC preventing the gathering of more than four persons in entire Sub-division Sopore.
Authorities also suspended mobile internet services in entire Sopore township from Thursday evening as a ‘precautionary measures’.
