Highway remains shut for third straight day

Jammu: The Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed for vehicular movement on Friday for the third  straight  day due to fresh landslides over the road due to downpour that lashed the area.

“There have been landslides at some places along the Ramsoo-Ramban stretch of the highway due to heavy rain in the area, while fresh snowfall occurred in Banihal,” officials said.

“The highway will remain closed till the landslide debris and accumulated snow is completely cleared,’ they said.

Officials said that almost 1700 vehicles are stranded over the stretch.

Authorities has said that stranded will be allowed to move on priority but so far vehicular movement remains halted.
