Winter vacation in schools likely to be extended till March 2
Srinagar: Government is likely to extend the winter vacations in schools in winter zone after Directorate of School Education Kashmir urged secretary to government, school education department, to extend it till March 2.
According to officials DSEK has communicated the same to the higher authorities citing ‘prevailing weather conditions in Kashmir valley particularly latest snowfall in far flund areas.
“It is recomended that the winter vacation may be extended upto March 2.
“The schools shall open on March 5 as Mar 3 and 4 are gazetted holiday,” reads the letter to Secretary education.
The formal order is expected soon.
As per order issued by the School Education Department in December last year, winter vacation for upto 8th standard would be observed till March 2, 2019 while for 9th standard onwards the vacation would be observed till February 23, 2019.
Moreover, the teaching faculty has been asked to report for duties in advance on February 22 to supervise the arrangements for reopening of the schools.
