Walerhama residents suffer as PDD fails to end their woes

Anantnag: Amid harsh winter conditions, the residents of Shah Mohalla in Walerhama area of Ashmuqam have been left on God’s mercy as the authorities have failed to completely repair their damaged transformer that according to them has developed technical snag five times in just 20 days.
Inhabitants told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that Power Development Department (PDD) sub division Anantnag has miserably failed to repair their transformer fully, saying that it has failed to resolve frequent damage to the common electric transformer.
Locals said that 63 KV transformer allotted to Shah Mohalla has developed technical snag five times during the last 20 days, resulting in immense hardships to them.
“Despite repeated requests to concerned authorities to provide them 100 KV transformer as there is heavy load on 63 KVA but our pleas are being ignored,” they said.
They said with lack of political affiliation, authorities have been repeatedly ignoring them.
Locals urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and sanction 100 KV transformer for their locality so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
Junior Engineer PDD Sub Division Ashmuqam said that locals are using heavy load due to which transformer gets damage frequently. “We are sending an inspection team who will check power thefts in the area, he said.
Superintendent Engineer South Circle, Ghulam Rasool Khanday said that he will look into the matter and see possibility of providing 100 KV transformer to the locality.
