Kashmiri Architect among 15 awarded for excellence in ‘religious architecture’

Khan received award for designing Charar-i-Sharief, other shrines

Srinagar: At least 15 Architects and Professionals of India were felicitated for professional excellence at INT-EXT Expo 2019 “Architects Meet” held at Chandigarh recently.
Well known Architect of Jammu and Kashmir, Munir Ahmad Khan has also been conferred this prestigious award organized by ‘Times of India Group’ in collaboration with Indian Institute of Architects Punjab and Haryana and Udan Media and Communications LTD.
This award is given to the Architects and Professionals for their exemplary work in Architecture industry.
Khan who acquired his B.Arch from Chandigarh College of Architecture in 1977 and Masters in Town Planning from School of Planning and Architecture ,New Delhi in 1980 with specialization in Country Planning from Poland in 1983 retired in 2012 as Chief Architect of J&K State after putting in about 35 years of distinguished services.
Munir is a well known practicing Architect of the state at present. He has been awarded this prestigious award for his outstanding contribution in “Religious Architecture” especially for designing Charar-i-Sharief Shrine and other shrines of prominence.
Khan is also recipient of Bharat Jyoti award 2006 and best Citizens of India award 2006 for his outstanding services in the field of Architecture.
