Students in Kashmir stage protests

Srinagar: Massive clashes broke out in Uptown area of Parraypora in Srinagar city after youth took to streets to protest harassment of Kashmiris in Jammu and other parts of India.
Locals said that the youth assembled on roads and chanted slogans against the harassment and violence targeting Kashmiris.
“As soon as police arrived at the scene clashes broke out and youth resorted to stone pelting,” they said, adding that traffic on the road was also disturbed due to continuous clashes.
Parraypora, houses most of the private coaching centers with a massive footfall of students every day.
Meanwhile, students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of North campus at WadooraSopore on Monday also staged a protest against the attacks on students.
The students assembled inside college premises and demanded immediate release of Kashmiri student who was detained in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
A group of protesting students said Kashmiris are not safe outside, saying it was not for the first time that Kashmiris are being targeted, harassed and detained outside the Valley.
The students also demanded Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students outside the Valley.
Pertinently on Sunday, police had detained TahseenGul of Kashmir native, a B Tech student of Chitkara University in Baddi on charge of allegedly glorifying suicide bomber, Adil Ahmed Dar who carried out Pulwama attack that left 49 CRPF men dead and several others wounded on last Thursday.
On Monday two more students were arrested in Himachal for ‘anti national activities.’
