Several booked for ‘anti national’ posts on social media platforms

Srinagar: There seems to be no end to the miseries faced by Kashmiri students who are studying in outside Colleges and Universities.
After facing attacks from frenzied mobs from the past few days, the students are now facing wrath from authorities and police action for posting “anti-national” comments and posts on social media post attack on the CRPF in Pulwama.
On Tuesday, the authorities at the SGT University of Gurgaon, Delhi rusticated a Kashmiri girl student for her social media post over the Pulwama attack.
A university official said the action was taken following a complaint against the fourth semester student of radio imaging technology.
Earlier, four Kashmir students were suspended by the authorities at the National Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) for alleged ‘anti-national’ comments.
Two students of SUS Engineering College Tangori were suspended for alleged ‘anti-national’ posts on social media.
Amid threats and harassment faced by the Kashmiri students, the authorities in two Dehradun colleges have decided not to admit Kashmiri students anymore in the institutes.
The J&K government has claimed to have appointed liaison officers in various states who according to the government, were in constant touch with local administrations and college authorities in outside states to ensure that the “students from J&K are not put to any inconvenience.”’
However, the suspension of students by colleges and detention by police has contradicted the government claims of ensuring safety of Kashmiri students studying in outside colleges. Already more than 300 students have fled from other state to Kashmir citing insecurity in these states particularly in Dehradun and Haryana.
Other students are also making their move towards Chandigarh and other safer locations in wake of mob attacks and forcible evacuation from their rented accommodations.
Meanwhile, the authorities at IIMT College of engineering, Greater Noida also suspended a Kashmiri student for posting an ‘anti-national’ comment over Pulwama attack on social media.
The chief proctor of the college has written to concerned senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and demanded an “exemplary and strict action” against the “culprit.” The student has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Khawaja from Kupwara.
Besides facing college action, the Kashmiri students are detained by outside state police for allegedly sharing “anti-national” posts on social media.
Three Kashmiri students have been booked by Bengaluru Police for posting alleged “anti-national and derogatory comments” on social media over Pulwama attack.
The trio are pursuing B.Sc nursing course from two colleges in Bengaluru city.
