Highway shut again, landslides block road
Srinagar: Srinagar-Jammu highway has been closed for vehicular movement following fresh landslides in Ramban and Ramsoo areas.
An official said the highway will remain closed on Friday as the incessant rains have triggered fresh landslides on the highway near Panthal blocking the traffic.
“Men and machinery are on work to clear the road,” he said.
The highway has remained shut for several weeks this winter leading to acute shortage of essentials in the valley.
The officials said that more than thousand vehicles are stranded on the stretch.
Several thousand Kashmiri passengers are also stranded in Jammu.
