Srinagar: Girls have outshined Boys in the annual 2018 class 11th exams, the result of which was declared by J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) on Wednesday.
The overall pass percentage of the students is 63 percent. The pass percentage of girls is 67 percent while as aggregate pass percentage of boys is only 60 percent.
As per the JKBOSE figures, 62101 students had appeared in the exams including 32227 boys and 29874 girls out of which 39406 students have been declared qualified by JKBOSE. The qualified students include 19284 boys and 20122 girls.
As per BOSE figures, 19526 students have been shown as re-appear in various subjects while as 3169 students have failed in all the subjects.
JKBOSE has registered 14 ‘unfair means’ cases during the exams, while as 20 students were disqualified and exam of 18 students has been cancelled as well.
Also, 9166 students have been put under the ‘dispute eligibility’ category in the results sheet.
Meanwhile, the students have performed fairly in science stream as compared to Arts and commerce stream.
The pass percentage of girls is 55 in Arts, 83 commerce and 90 percent in science stream while as in boys have 40 percent in Arts, 68 in commerce and 85 percent in science stream.
“11640 students have been awarded distinction, 14898 have secured first division while as 10306 students have qualified the exam in second division. 2560 students have passed the exams in 3rd division,” the BOSE data states.
Meanwhile, joint secretary in secrecy department of JKBOSE Kashmir division has congratulated all the students who qualified the exams.
The students have performed fairly in mathematics subject, contradicting the government claims that the subject was reason for alarming dropout rate of students in government schools. The students have also performed in other science subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Biology as well.
