Srinagar: Complete shutdown is being observed in Valley over Joint Resistance Leadership’s call against hanging of Afzal Guru this day six years back in Tihar Jail.

JRL has called for a shutdown to protest against the hanging of Guru and Maqbool Bhat on Feb 9 and 11 respectively.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in old city Srinagar while forces in large number have been deployed in Guru’s native village in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Locals said that forces in large number have been deployed in city center Lal chowk as well guarding clock tower.

Guru was hanged in Tihar jail on Feb 9, 2013 for allegedly being part of the attack on Indian Parliament on 2001 that had shook the whole of India.
