Kargil observes shutdown, demands opening of Kargil-Skardu road

Kargil: A complete shutdown was on Friday observed across Kargil to press for the demands including opening of Kargil-Skardu road, termination of Zojjila Tunnel Project, Air Service and others.
The shutdown call was given by Anjuman Jamiyat Ullma Isna Ashriya Kargil Ladakh (AJUIAK).
Kargil wore a deserted look today in response to the shutdown call as all the business units, government offices, Court and even LAHDC Secretariat remained closed throughout the day, reports said.
After the culmination of Friday prayers, President (AJUIAK) Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslameen Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi while interacting with the people thanked all the business organizations, Trade Unions, Taxi, Bus and Omni Van Union and all the Government officers and officials for making the strike call successful.
Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi thanked all the religious, social and political organization and leaders of J&K who supported the movement last Friday and urged upon them to support this movement to highlight the discrimination being done with the people of Ladakh in general and the people of Kargil Ladakh in particular.
He also thanked former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shah Feaseal, Er Rasheed and others for their support.
Sheikh Nazir further said that future course of action will be intimated to the people within days and urged people of Ladakh to support their cause.
