Division status to Ladakh: Ignoring Pir Panchal, Chenab valley casts questions on centers intentions, says Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar: Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday while welcoming the governments decision declaring Ladakh a seperate division has said that ignoring Pir Panchal and Chenab castes questions about center’s intentions.
“Creation of a separate administrative division for Leh is a welcome step. However ignoring Pir Panchal & Chenab valley raises questions about the Centre’s intention. Seems like Guv sb is peddling BJPs agenda by ignoring other equally deserving regions,” Mehbooba tweeted.
Prior to Mehbooba’s reaction to the government’s decision National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah promised division status for Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal regions if his party was voted to power in upcoming elections.
The state government has approved creation of a separate Administrative/ Revenue Division for Ladakh.
This division will comprise Leh and Kargil Districts with its headquarters at Leh, said an official handout on Friday.
