Heavy snowfall affected life in the valley as the downpour continued for second consecutive day snapping road and air traffic contact with the rest of the world.

Shops opened late and many markets remains closed as footfall on the city center lal chowk also decreased drastically.

Traffic on various routes remains affected due to slippery condition of the roads and traffic police asked commuters to take extra care while driving including two wheelers to avoid riding in these conditons. They asked be cautious while putting breaks on roads and not to over speed.

Electricity remains snapped in majority of the valley since Wednesday evening. Reports from various districts said that polls are effected and power lines cut. An under construction power transmission tower smashed down in Ajas Bandipora.

Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport remained suspended for second day. The tarmac remained under blanket of snow till late Thursday noon. Many GATE aspirants missed the flights and government asked them to register with Div Com Kashmir’s office. Srinagar Jammu road also remained closed.
