Road Safety Week: MVD Bla organizes essay competition

Sopore: In the ongoing 30th Road Safety Week, the Motor Vehicle department Baramulla in collaboration with Sanctorum College of Education LaladSopore on Tuesday organised Inter School and Inter College essay competition on ‘Road Safety Education for Children’ in which students from various schools and colleges participated.
Speaking on the occasion, ARTO BaramullaDr Mohammad ZubairLattoo said that in India almost over one lakh persons lose their lives every year in road accidents, causing loss of human lives and property and trauma to the family of the deceased.
“As a part of the advocacy campaign for road safety, Road Safety Week is being observed throughout the country every year in order to highlight and emphasize the need for safe roads,” he said.
This year, the theme of Road Safety Week is “SadakSurakhshaJeevanRaksha”
The main thrust of holding essay competition was to impart traffic rules knowledge in young generation so that they could become law abiding citizens and it will help easing road traffic accidents which is alarming these days and would give awareness among the students about the need and urgency for making the journey on road safer.
The essay competition was based on English language.
Further, it was given that student who will get first, second and third positions in the competition will be felicitated by merit certificate, trophies and books.
Further, all the participants will be given certificate of participation.
Speaking to the media, the students felt jubilant after writing the essay competition and told that it was a new learning experience for them and they learned about different aspects regarding traffic rules.
