Sopore: The residents of Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday staged a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) departments for failing to provide adequate electricity and drinking water to the area.

While shouting slogans against the district administration, the protesters blocked Sopore -Bandipora road for several hours.
“We are facing pesky power cuts and acute shortage of water supply in this chilling winter,” the protesters said, adding that despite several pleas, the demands of villagers were not fulfilled.
Meanwhile, a team of police officials reached the spot and assured the protestors that their matter will be taken up with higher authorities of PDD and PHE.
Moreover, the officials from PDD also reached the spot and assured them of providing adequate electricity supply to their areas.
