Valley shuts down ahead of PM’s visit
Srinagar: A complete shutdown was observed Sunday in Kashmir against the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik as a mark of protest against “tyranny and oppression” during five years of Modi’s rule.
All shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.
Authorities have suspended mobile Internet service in Kashmir ahead of Modi’s visit to the state.
An official said the service was suspended shortly after midnight as a precautionary measure in view of PM’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
