Militants hurl grenades targeting security men
Srinagar: Militants Friday carried out several grenade attacks on security forces in Anantnag, Pulwama and Baramulla districts ahead of the Republic Day, police said.
There were two incidents of hurling of grenade by the militants in south Kashmir, they said.
The strike took place in Anantnag’s bus stand area whre one cop reportedly suffered injuries. Another attack was carried out in Tahab area of Pulwama district.
Reports said that suspected militant lobbed a grenade towards Tahab camp which exploded outside the gate of Tahab camp.
Suspected militants also lobbed a grenade on a CRPF picket in MidooraTral area of Pulwama district late evening. However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
Militants also tossed a grenade on CRPF bunker in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official of the CRPF said that the suspected militants lobbed the grenade towards the bunker of paramilitary force’s 179 battalion.
The device, however, missed the target and exploded on road side, he said.
SSP SoporeJavidIqbal said that a team of police has been deputed to the site to ascertain the nature of blast.
The SSP said that there was no immediate report of any injury in the blast. (with inputs from GNS)
