Khonmoh gunfight: Identity, affiliation of two killed militants being ascertained
Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that they are ascertaining the identity and affiliations of the two militants killed in Khonmoh encounter.
Police said that the operation was launched based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Khonmoh area of District Srinagar.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the terrorists. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight,” police said.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter,” police said.
