No fresh traffic will be allowed on Srinagar-Jammu highway tomorrow
Srinagar: Traffic authorities on Wednesday said that no fresh traffic will eb allowed to ply on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Thursday.
“Traffic movement was disrupted continuously for three days due to rain, shooting stones/landslides/snowfall on Jammu Srinagar NHW – 44. Therefore tomorrow on 24.01.2019, subject to fair weather/clearance of road only stranded vehicles shall be allowed,” a spokesman of the department said. .
Meanwhile, a massive snow-clearance operation was underway to restore the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which remained closed for vehicular traffic for the third consecutive day Wednesday, officials said.
The snow clearance operation on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel – the gateway to Kashmir – was started and the snow-clearance operation is going on in full swing, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic National Highway, Pardeep Singh Sen said.
