Avalanche kills two in Ramban, two women rescued
Srinagar: Two persons, including a minor girl, died while as two women were rescued after a snow avalanche hit Trigam village of Ramban district on Tuesday.
Reports said that a snow avalanche hit Kawana area near Trigam village today afternoon resulting in the death of 25-year-old Muhammad Rafiq and 12-year-old Sumerna Jan.
Besides, two women identified as Fatha Begum (30) and Taja Begum (32) wentr missing after the avalanche.
An official said the avalanche hit the village when all the four persons were heading towards their home in Trigam, located 50 km from Ramban in Khardi tehsil.
However, the two women were immediately rescued, police said.

“The bodies of a man and a minor girl who died in the avalanche have also been retrieved,” he said.
Meanwhile, Divisional administration has issued a fresh avalanche warning in nine avalanche prone districts of Kashmir division.
The warning has been issued for the avalanche-prone areas in district Anantnag, Kulgam, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kargil and Leh of J&K state.
As per the handout, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has asked the Deputy Commissioners of all these districts to advise the people living in avalanche prone areas not to venture out to avoid the loss of lives.
The Div Com also directed the concerned DCs to take all the precautionary measures and to keep the SDRF, Police and Para-medical staff with ambulances in readiness to avert any untoward incident.
