Srinagar: Despite Governor Satya Pal Malik announcing to relieve the inhabitants of Mustafaabad and adjoining areas in Zainakot area of water logging issues, the residents are up in arms against the authorities for their failure to dewater the interior streets in the area.
“There is water logging everywhere while despite repeated pleas, the concerned department has failed to install any pump to dewater the streets,” the residents said, adding that the commuters were facing huge inconvenience due to massive water logging.
“During rainy season, the streets get filled with water making the pedestrian movement very difficult,” they said.
The residents said that despite holding many demonstrations seeking immediate dewatering of these streets, the concerned department showed lackadaisical attitude towards the issue.
“We approached authorities many times with representations, but they turned deaf ears to our repeated pleas,” they said.
“Even Governor assured that the issue would be taken up on priority, but nothing of that sort happened,” said Mohammad Altaf, a resident. (with CNS inputs)
