Srinagar: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested seven persons related to gambling offence including four in Tarzoo Sopore and three in Hajin areas of North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Bandipora districts.

In Sopore the arrests were made after police raided a gambling site.

“Four persons were arrested following a credible input of gambling offences in Tarzoo area of Sopore,” Police said, adding that it seized playing cards and stake money of ₹ 48,000 from the gamblers.

In Bandipora,  police said that three persons were arrested following a credible input about gambling activities in Hajin area of Bandipora.

The persons arrested for gambling offences were identified as Tariq Ahmad Parray son of M Sikander Parray, Ajaz Ahmad Dar son of Ab Rashid Dar and Shabir Ahmad Parray son of M Amin Parray, all resident of Hajin.

“Officers from the local police unit while making the arrests have also seized playing cards and stake money of ₹1230 from the gamblers,” Police said.
