Srinagar: Condemning the killing of a Sikh youth in Tral last week, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Thursday said that ‘the loss of human lives is deplorable”.

In a statement, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik said that the Sikh community always stood with the majority community in the resistance movement even when attempts were made by (Indian) agencies to give it a sectarian angle.”

“…even after the massacre of Sikhs in Chhattisinghpora, the people of this community showed farsightedness and patience to defeat the communal forces.”

The leaders said that the protection of minorities, whether they are Sikhs, Hindus, or Buddhists is our political and moral responsibility. “We have been taught about protecting them in our religion,” they said, in the statement.

The JRL said that a high-level delegation will visit the family of slain Sikh youth Simranjeet Singh in Tral to express their solidarity and convey that they are safe in Kashmir.”
