Helps Sikh family to perform last rites of their member

Shopian: Exhibiting the communal harmony yet again, the Muslim community in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday helped a Sikh family in performing the last rites of a Sikh man here.
Sources said that Dildar Singh from Bongam area of Shopian district breathed his last at SKIMS after brief illness.
The surrounding Muslim population soon after the news about his death spread gathered at his house and extended help to family members. The locals made all the arrangements and helped the family in performing his last rites.
A neighbor of Kuldeep namely Aijaz Ahmad said that “this is our primary duty to help our neighbors irrespective of their religion. Dildar is our neighbor and Islam teaches us to fulfill the rights of a neighbor.”
“It is a tragic loss for our locality as we lost a polite and a very help person and we will always miss him,” he said.
The Sikh community meanwhile, hailed the efforts of locals.
“We are thankful to our Muslim neighbors who treat us like our family. We never felt that we are from different religion despite Shopian has remained very tense from three decades particularly from last two years,” said a relative of Dildar Singh.
