Jmu-Sgr highway closed for traffic, other highways also blocked
Srinagar: Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was suspended on Wednesday morning following fresh snowfall around the Jawahar Tunnel.
The strategic highway that connects Kashmir valley with the rest of the world was closed for traffic today morning after fresh snowfall on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel, said an official.
Apart from the Jmu-Sgr national highway traffic has also been closed on the historic Mughal road following snowfall in the upper reaches.
Meanwhile, Bandipora-Gurez road was closed for traffic after heavy snowfall in the area.
An official said the road was closed for all types of traffic after heavy snowfall in Gurez, Tragbal and Razdan Pass.
“Around 7 inches and 1 feet snow have accumulated in Gurez and Razdan pass respectively since late last night. The road has been closed as a precautionary measure, ” he added.
