Gunmen attack CRPF patrol party, JeM claims responsibility

Pulwama: Suspected gunmen on Sunday afternoon attacked a CRPF patrolling party of the police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town.

Reports said that militants fired at a joint patrol of the police and the CRPF in Pulwama town around 5pm.

However, there were no reports of any injury or loss of life.

Militants, immediately after the attack, fled from the spot, said the official.

Meanwhile, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed the attack. The outfit’s spokesperson said adding that one forces personnel was killed and several critically injured.

In a statement issued to GNS, Mohammad Hassan said JeM men carried out the attack on a CRPF patrolling party near Pulwama police station.

The attack was revenge for “Pulwama martyrs”, he said, adding, that the armed resistance will continue till the presence of the last Indian soldier in Kashmir.
