Pulwama: Authorities have booked Ummat-e-Islami (UeI) district president Pulwama and MirwaizJamia Masjid MurranPulwama, Aijaz Ahmad Noori under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted him to KotBalwal jail in Jammu.
The UeI district president Pulwama has been booked for allegedly playing active role in 2016 agitation and delivering pro-Pakistan speeches.
Aijaz Ahmad Wani @Noori, son of Bashir Ahmad Noori of Bhatnoora village in Lassipora area of Pulwama district according to his family members was called by 55 RR Tahabunit on November 07 this year where he questioned for two to three hours. The UeI district president was later released but soon after he reached on the gate of the camp, he was arrested by SOG Lassipora and was handed over to Police Station Litter.
“He was kept there at Police Station from 17 November to 24 December for playing active role in 2016 agitation and delivering pro-Pakistani speeches and was shifted to kotBalwal jail in Jammu on Monday morning, the family said.
Belonging to a poor family, Aijaz besides delivering Friday sermons at MurranPulwama was also a teacher at IslamiaHanfia High School WoyenPampore and was the lone bread earner of his family.
Shakeel Ahmad, younger brother of Noori who is a student at Government Degree College Pulwama told this reporter that his father suffered complete fracture in his right arm due to an accident in January 2018 due to which he is not able to do any kind of work following which the family is completely relying on Aijaz.
A senior police official confirmed that Noori has been booked under PSA.
Meanwhile, Ummat e Islami condemned the booking of Aijaz Ahmad Noori, saying that “on one side, Kashmiri youth are being brutally murdered and on the other they are being put behind bars.”
UeI General Secretary demanded the release of political prisoners including SarjanBarkati, MasaratAlam and others.
