Amid restrictions, clashes, protests erupt in Pulwama

Pulwama: Amid the restrictions imposed by the authorities, clashes broke out in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after the locals staged a protest against the recent civilian killings.
Soon after the culmination of congregational Friday prayers, people from Jamia Masjid Pulwama marched towards the district headquarters amid raising slogans against civilian killings and demanding action against the forces involved in recent civilian killing at SirnooPulwama.
Notably, Pulwama observed complete shutdown for the seventh consecutive day today.
All the shops, business establishments, colleges and coaching centres remained closed in the town for the seventh consecutive day while as public transport also remained off the roads.
Reports said that protest rallies were also taken at Murran and Rohmoo as well after Friday prayers.
Locals informed ‘Kashmir Vision’ that the religious clerics denounced the civilian killings in Pulwama during the congregational Friday prayers.
While protests were going on main chowk, clashes erupted in Malikpora area of Pulwama when youth pelted stones on government forces, which was retaliated by tear smoke shells.
Pertinently, three militants and an army man were killed in a gunfight in Sirnoo village of district Pulwama following which seven civilians were killed in post gunfight clashes that left dozens of people injured as well.
