Sopore villagers protest against pesky power cuts
Sopore: The residents of Hardushiva area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) over the pesky power being provided to them.
The residents including men and women of Rehmat Colony of Hardushiva took to the streets raising slogans against the department.
The protesting residents accused the department of apathy against them for not providing adequate electricity and HT transmission lines in the area.
The residents demanded adequate electricity and proper HT transmission lines in their area.
Locals said that despite many requests, the authorities didn’t pay heed to their sufferings, thereby compelling them to hit the streets.
Nazir Ahmad a local resident told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that “We brought the issues into the notice of concerned department several times but unfortunately no steps were taken in this regard.”
Meanwhile, an official at PDD department said that due to overload, residents are facing hardships.
He further added that department has already changed the HT lines.
