Say final selection list is being delayed unnecessarily

Srinagar: The candidates provisionally selected against the available posts of teachers in the school education department have accused the Service Selection Board (SSB) of resorting to inordinate delay in issuing the final selection list of the candidates.
The candidates said the recruitment was done under fast track recruitment process but the SSB has failed to complete the process even after the passage of around one year.
“As per fast track recruitment policy, the selection process should get completed within three to four months. But, around 11 months have passed since the recruitment notification was issued by the SSB,” the candidates said.
The candidates questioned the SSB for delaying the selection despite completing the document verification process of the candidates.
“Document verification was done more than three months ago but still the final list is awaited,” the candidates said, adding that the selection process was without any interview which should have shortened the duration of the process.
The 2154 posts of teachers- 1296 general line, 214 Urdu teachers and 644 for science and Mathematics were advertised by the SSB in December last year.
The official said the final selection was delayed due to some issues which erupted post document verification.
“Some candidates had filed petitions in High Court while as some candidates submitted representations in SSB with regard to the consideration of the degrees possessed by the candidates,” the official said, adding that the matter was referred to General Administration Department (GAD) for their opinion regarding the matter.
The provisional selection list of the candidates who qualified for post of Science and Math subject was issued on June 26 followed the provisional selection list of candidates selected as general line teachers on August 4.
An official at GAD said they have sent their opinion to SSB for issuing final selection list.
Chairman SSB, Zubair Ahmad when contacted said the list is under process and will take some time before it is publicized.
