Pulwama killings: PDP workers protest inside Civil Secretariat in Jammu

Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) workers on Monday staged a protest demonstration inside the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.
The protest demonstration was led by senior PDP leaders Firdous Tak, Aijaz Mir and Yawar Mir.
The protesters assembled in the canteen of the Secretariat and marched in its lawns, demanding an end to ‘unabated civilian killings’ at the hands of government forces.
The protesters were carrying banners which read stop innocent killings in Kashmir. The protesters later entered the secretariat and carried protest inside the premises even when Chief Secretary V V R Subrahmanyam and two advisors of Governor Khurshid Ganie and KK Sharma were seated there.
Former MLC Firdous Tak alleged that the Governor administration has failed to protect the lives of common Kashmiris.
“The government has failed and New Delhi needs to react before the situation slips out of hand,” he said.
Tak said that blood is spilled on streets of Kashmir by government forces and such vicious cycle of violence needs to be put to an end sooner otherwise situation will come to such a passe that nobody would be able to control it.
Following the protests, IGP Jammu SD Singh Jamwal, DIG Jammu Vivek Gupta along with other senior officers rushed to civil secretariat to take stock of the situation.
Notably, on Saturday seven civilians were killed in post encounter clashes at Pulwama. (GNS)
