Says coming days will be tough for Kashmiris

Srinagar: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) on Monday condemned the continuous detention of its president Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh at Kothi Bagh Police Station. AIP president was detained during a protest march on Sunday against the civilian killings in Pulwama on last Saturday.
AIP spokesman Advocate Maajid Banday as per a statement issued here said that “such suppressive measures will not work and New Delhi cannot hide its aggression by all its inhuman acts.”
“Since party had planned a peaceful sit-in in front of Army Headquarters at Badami Bagh to protest against Pulwama killings and against misuse of AFSPA, AIP president continuous detention speaks of the frustration among the state administration, which is being run by men in uniform and other civilian authorities do exist only on papers,” he said.
He said if New Delhi through its ‘proxies’ doesn’t allow even to raise voice against shameful massacres like one took place in Pulwama, where is the space for any political process.
“The way Army Chief General Bipin Rawat is threatening Kashmiris since last two days is ample proof to conclude that coming days will be more tough for Kashmiris and men in uniform have been given absolute free hand to kill Kashmiris by calling them militants, stone pelters, OGW’s and miscreants,” he said, adding that Governor Satya Pal Malik and his team of Advisors have simply become mouth pieces of security agencies and seem to be keen bent on distorting the facts.
Spokesman added that such oppressive measures cannot break the resolve of Kashmiris as truth lies on their side and they are victims of state terrorism.
