Sopore shuts on 2nd straight day to mourn militant killings

Sopore: A complete shutdown was observed on second consecutive day in Sopore town and Zaingeer belt of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday to mourn the killing of two local LeT militants who were killed in an overnight gunfight in Brath Kalan area of Sopore.
All the shops, other business establishments are closed in the town while as a thin movement of public and private transport was seen plying on the roads in the town.
The slain local militants Owais Ahmad Bhat @Abu Bakar, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Gund Brath Sopore and Tahir Ramzan Dar@ Abu Abdullah, son of Muhammad Ramzan of Saidpora Sopore was killed in an overnight gunfight at Brath Kalan area of Sopore.
However, people including men and women continue to visit the house of slain militants at their native villages to express condolences with the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, authorities on late last evening ordered suspension of class work in all the educational institutions (Government as well as private) across Sopore Sub Division including Degree College as ‘a precautionary measure’.
Moreover, the internet services were also restored in Sopore on late Thursday evening that remained suspended for last 24 hours.
