Srinagar: Following a fresh snowfall in the high altitude areas including Pir Ki Gali today, the traffic authorities closed the Mughal Road for vehicular traffic on Monday morning.

The Mughal road- connecting the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district was closed today early Morning following a fresh snowfall in the area.

“We have decided to close the road for vehicular traffic due to slippery road conditions in view of the snowfall,”  SDM Surankote  Mohammad Saleem Qurasi said.

He said that they have asked the officials at Shopian as well not to allow the traffic on the road as a precautionary measure.

The road will be re-opened once the weather conditions improve, the officer said.

Meanwhile, night temperature showed some improvement in Srinagar owing to overnight rains. (with inputs from GNS)
