Shopian gunfight: Forces withdraw from area, clashes erupt
Shopian: Government forces withdrew from a gunfight site as militants made their escape after brief exchange of fire in Sangdan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district early Monday morning.
Reports said that clashes erupted in the area as forces exchanged fire with militants.
“There was a lull in the gunfire for more than an hour and militants might have escaped in the initial contact,” a police official wishing anonymity said.
Forces, Army, CRPF and Police, later withdrew from the area where clashes were also reported.
Meanwhile the internet services including 2g, 3g and 4g were restored in the district which was snapped early morning as “precautionary measure”.
