Clashes leave three persons injured in Sopore
Sopore: At least three youth were injured during the clashes that broke out in Botingoo Zaingeer area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday afternoon.
Reports said that as soon as forces start leaving from the area who were on election duty, scores of youth took to streets near the polling booth and started pelting stones on forces.
The forces responded by firing tear gas and pellets, leaving three protesters injured.
However, all the injured were rushed to a local hospital, where doctors referred one among them to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
The injured person shifted to Srinagar’s hospital was identified as Farhad Bhat, son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat of Botingoo Sopore.
Meanwhile, parts of Zaingeer witnessed a complete shutdown on the call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the ongoing polls.
Pertinently, 10.87% votes were polled in the fifth phase of Panchayat elections in Zaingeer belt today.
