Soldier injured in sniper fire
Srinagar: An army soldier was injured in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers in Machil sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday afternoon.
Army sources said that Pakistan Rangers in “violation of ceasefire” opened some rounds of sniper fire on an army posts of 17 Jakli in Machil along the LoC on Monday afternoon.
The incident left a soldier injured, who was shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment, the official said.
He identified the injured soldier as Lance Naik, Pradeep Kumar.
Meanwhile, Pakistani army also attacked the Indian army’s 2/8 GR posts with small arms at Gujerdoora area of Machil at around 11:00 am Monday. The firing continued for about fifteen minutes. However, there was no immediate report of any injury.
