Hizb releases video about killing Shopian youth
Srinagar: Militants Friday killed a youth in Shopian area of South Kashmir after abducting him on Thursday. This time over, strangely, the scene of showering a volley of bullets on the youth, who appears to be handcuffed, was filmed. The death seems to be instant as the youth appears to have died on the spot.
The youth who was identified as Nadeem Manzoor, a resident of Safanagri area Shopian district of south Kashmir, was abducted on Thursday night and on Friday morning his bullet-riddled body of was retrieved by the police.
“Manzoor’s bullet-riddled body was retrieved by police from Niklora Pulwama,” a police official said, adding that they have registered a case in this matter and the investigation has been initiated.
The family of the slain youth said that unknown gunmen Thursday afternoon came to their house and were looking for Nadeem.
“He, however, wasn’t present in the house at that time. Later in the evening, he was abducted and we came to know about his death late at night. We received his dead body on Friday morning,” a family member said.
The short clip has recorded the voice of those who killed Nadeem asking him “what had Abrar and Soub Dar done to you,” apparently referring to the fellow militants who were killed by the forces during encounters. After the gunman finishes his sentence, what follows is a volley of bullets showered on him. Killing him instantly, on the spot.
The family, however, said that their son was a drug addict and that they were apprehensive that he was whisked away in a ‘drug-related case.’
“We thought that was it, but now that it has happened, we can’t say anything who has killed him,” the family said.
Nadeem, a class 11th student at Govt Higher Secondary school, Zainapora has left behind two brothers, one sister beside his parents.
Locals in the Nikloora areas said that soon after gunshots were heard in the area, forces launched search operation in the area and during the search operation, few locals were arrested.
“As per preliminary investigation, Hizb militants including AabidMagray @saju of Nowpora Pulwama, Shoiab lone of Shirmalshopian and Aadil Bashir of zainapora, an SPO who decamped with 8 weapons from MLAs residence are involved in the incident,” police said.
“We have arrested some locals and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation was taken up in this regard,” police said.
Later, on Friday, Nadeem was laid to rest in his native village, Safanagri where hundreds of people participated in his last rites.
